Business Challenge
Dienst ICT Uitvoering (DICTU), is the information and communication technology shared-services organization within the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs. It is undergoing a digital transformation aimed at enhancing service delivery to citizens, businesses, and government agencies. Over the next few years, DICTU is building a private cloud to migrate more than 5,000 servers from its traditional IT environment. During the transition, DICTU must efficiently manage both cloud and traditional environments, which include 12,000 workstations, 830 specialized applications, and data connections at over 200 locations.
BMC Solution
DICTU has implemented Cloud Lifecycle Management and TrueSight Operations Management to accelerate delivery of services while improving end-to-end visibility, monitoring, and control across all components of the IT environment, both traditional and cloud.
Business Impact
BMC Digital Enterprise Management solutions will enable DICTU to automate the request and fulfillment process for delivering development platforms to DICTU developers. A developer can now request a complete infrastructure or application environment from the service catalog and receive it within a few hours.
- Automated request and fulfillment capabilities have slashed service delivery times from two weeks to three hours.
- Service cost showback has provided cost transparency and a foundation for chargeback.
- Comprehensive end-to-end monitoring with intelligent event and impact management are accelerating problem diagnosis and resolution.
“Our early successes are generating forward momentum for digital transformation. These successes combined with DICTU’s entrepreneurial spirit are propelling us forward as we bring more and more services to the cloud.”
— Wout van Wijngaarden, CTO, DICTU
